| That the minutes of the proceedings of the Development Committee of 16th and 17th June, 2004 be and they are hereby approved and adopted. |
|
| In considering the minutes of the Development Committee, several Members drew the Council's attention to a publication the contents of which were considered by them to be extremely offensive, which had received financial assistance from the Council. |
|
| After a lengthy discussion, the Council directed that the Arts Sub-Committee reconsider the question of the funding of arts publications with a view to the criteria in this regard specifically requiring that, prior to financial assistance being provided, the Council must have sight of the material to be published in order to ensure that such material will not be likely to offend the majority of the City's ratepayers and will contribute positively to the image of Belfast. |
